Who is Starrsy?
I’m a 60 single female, who has dreamed of traveling the world for a while now. After college, I took a cheap flight to Luxembourg, spent time in London, the south of France, Barcelona and Greece before moving to London to work and ultimately find my first foreign husband. After five years in the UK, the husband became and ex, I returned to the US and tried on several professions before finding something to stick with. I spent my 30s at a grown up job, owning a house, various dogs and cats and building a career doing fun things with computers and accounting (yes they can be compatible) In my forties, I ventured out into the world again, this time to Turkey, where I met my second foreign husband. For the last few years I have been single again. I now travel the world, where I aim to avoid all potential foreign husbands.
In the summer of 2012, I retired. After leaving my “stuff” and my dog, Kiz, with family in Oregon, I have been living my dream of traveling the world.
In 2012 I visited New Zealand and Fiji
In 2013 I traveled to India twice, Greece and Costa Rica building up airline miles to prepare for 2014 travel hacking
In 2014 I booked a RTW flight in business class using 160,000 airline miles. I also traveled to Thailand and did a TEFL certification course
In 2015 I spent time in Thailand and Laos looking for a teaching position and then was struck with pancreatitis and spend an interesting 5 days in hospital in Chiang Mai. In August of that year, I started a 10 month volunteer assignment through World Teach in American Samoa.
In 2016, I completed my volunteer year and spent two months traveling around Australia.
For 2017, I am again traveling around the world. This time without a plane! I plan to be gone for a year. Check out the latest stories on the blog.
