On board the CMA CGM Titus

I am aboard my ship! After spending the night at a very nice hostel close to Amtrak, I had a relaxing breakfast, wandered around Chinatown and picked up a few last snacks. Then I called an Uber to get to Terminal 18. Then the adventure started as the address I was given really covered a huge area and we had a bit of trouble finding the right gate. After losing ourselves, I called the port agent contact. Several calls and multiple U turns later still got me to the wrong gate, but my agent came and found me. She drove me right up to the ship’s gangway and even helped me carry one of my bags. The bag that is filled with snacks and a 6lb medicine ball that I will use to exercise and then will leave on the ship (more about this later)

My cabin is huge and very nice. I am in cabin “Passenger 1” on Deck F and I am the only passenger. I have found the mess room, had lunch and met Steward Mark, Chef Wenceslas and Spare Officer Fidel who has been my main contact. I will get an orientation after dinner tonight.

We are scheduled to depart at 3 am tomorrow. For a short while it looked like they were leaving early so I was glad to have been on board by noon.

I disembark in about 34 days in Port Kelang and will on an internet break during most if not all of the journey. During the trip I will take lots of photos and do some interviews with the crew. I have just realized that I may be the only female on board. I wonder if I can get a dancing partner for New Years Eve? 😉

I am typing this on my iPhone so the format may be a bit off until I get Internet on my larger device. Check out a few photos.

Approaching the ship

Passenger 1 cabin – that’s me!

View of Seattle from the deck outside my room

Dropped a pin in Google Maps of the ship location

View outside my window. That is a lot of containers.

Deck outside my room. Look forward to clear and warm weather so I can sit and watch the world go by.

My spot in the mess hall. A little Christmas decor on display!🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Watch for my return online in early February!

  2. This is amazing! I had no idea you could travel on a freighter until we chatted at Julie’s retirement gathering and you told me about this Grand Adventure. Can’t wait to hear all about the journey when you are back on-line in Feb. Safe travels.
